How to Set Up Zoho Social: A Step-by-Step Getting Started Guide

Once you know what Zoho Social does, the next step is actually getting it running. The good news: setup takes minutes, not days. Here’s the process from account creation to your first scheduled post.

Step 1: Sign Up for the Free Trial

Zoho Social offers a 15-day free trial with full access and no credit card required. When the trial ends, your account automatically drops to a forever-free plan rather than shutting off, so there’s no risk of losing access mid-setup. This makes it easy to test the platform properly before committing to a paid tier.

Step 2: Choose the Right Plan for Your Team

Zoho Social’s plans are built around two variables: how many brands (sets of social channels) you need, and how many team members need access.

  • Free — one brand, one team member, six core channels. Good for testing the waters.
  • Standard — one brand, one team member, adds the full publishing calendar, drafts, and bulk features.
  • Professional — adds livestream, CustomQ scheduling slots, bulk scheduling, and the monitoring dashboard.
  • Premium — adds SmartQ, the unified Inbox, content approval workflows, custom reports, and Zoho CRM/Desk integration.
  • Agency / Agency Plus — built for managing 10–20+ client brands with white-labeled, client-facing dashboards.

If content approvals, team workflows, or CRM integration matter to you, you’ll want at least the Premium tier — those features aren’t available on the lower plans. Exact pricing varies by region and billing cycle, so check the current plan comparison before you commit.

Step 3: Connect Your Social Channels

From your dashboard, you’ll add a “Brand” and connect each social profile to it — Facebook Page, Instagram Business Profile, LinkedIn Company Page, X profile, Google Business Profile, and so on. Each network has its own authorization flow (you’ll be prompted to log in and grant permissions), and Zoho Social will walk you through which account types are supported for each network — for example, Instagram and Facebook require business or creator accounts rather than personal profiles.

Step 4: Invite Your Team and Set Roles

If you’re on a plan that includes multiple team members, add your collaborators next and assign roles. Zoho Social supports custom roles and permissions per brand, so you can, for example, let a content writer create drafts without giving them publishing rights, while a manager retains full approval authority. We go deeper on this in our post on team collaboration and approval workflows.

Step 5: Explore the Dashboard Layout

Before you schedule your first post, take a lap around the interface. The main areas you’ll use daily are:

  • Home Dashboard — a snapshot of recent activity and performance across connected channels.
  • Publishing — where you compose, schedule, and review drafts.
  • Monitor — your listening columns for mentions, keywords, and hashtags.
  • Reports — analytics and custom report building.
  • Collaborate — team discussions and content approvals (Premium and above).

Step 6: Import Existing Content (Optional)

If you’re migrating from another tool, Zoho Social’s Bulk Scheduler lets you upload a CSV or XLS file to schedule a batch of posts at once, rather than recreating your queue one post at a time. This is especially useful if you’re switching over from a tool like Hootsuite or Buffer and don’t want to lose momentum.
